1941 Packard gear shift arm plastic coating replacement.
Your original gear shift arm is stripped, sandblasted, and cleaned with a solvent. The arm is shortened on half inch and threaded to accept a gear shift knob of the matching color. The assembly is then turned and polished on the lathe. A fine line is discernible at the joint.
